Admission under DASA programme

Welcome to the official page for international admissions at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur!

NIT Hamirpur invites applications from international students for undergraduate and postgraduate programs through the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme. This initiative offers foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) the opportunity to study at one of India’s premier institutions.

Admission under ICCR Programme of Government of India

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) administers various scholarship programs and awards about 3000+ scholarships under 21 different schemes to foreign students from about 180 countries. This initiative allows students from various countries to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs at one of India’s premier institutions for technical and scientific education.

Eligibility Criteria for ICCR Students (2025-26)

B.Tech.

  • The candidate must have passed XII class (or equivalent) examination with five subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects) with a minimum of 8 CGPI on a 10-point scale or 75% marks.
  • Candidates who have appeared in the Class XII examination in the current year or the previous two years and completed Class X no earlier than four years prior to the current year will be eligible for admission in UG programs, provided they meet all other eligibility criteria.
  • The department may set additional eligibility criteria based on JEE (Main), English Proficiency test scores (TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo), marks in the qualifying examination, SAT scores, etc.
  • Students admitted under this scheme shall not be entitled to any fellowship, scholarship, or financial aid from NIT Hamirpur.

M.Tech.

  • The applicant must have passed a minimum of four years of B.Tech./B.E./B.S. in a relevant discipline with a CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks.
  • The department may set additional eligibility criteria based on English Proficiency test scores (TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo), marks in the qualifying examination, SAT scores, etc.
  • Students admitted under this scheme shall not be entitled to any fellowship, scholarship, or financial aid from NIT Hamirpur.

PhD

  • For PhD in Engineering Departments, the applicant must have passed Bachelor (minimum four years) and Master Degree (minimum two years) in Engineering/Technology in the appropriate discipline, and must have secured a minimum CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in the Master’s Degree.
  • Students admitted under this scheme shall not be entitled to any fellowship, scholarship, or financial aid from NIT Hamirpur.

Admission under Study in India programme

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur welcomes international students under the Study in India program, a government of India initiative designed to attract foreign nationals to pursue higher education in India. NIT Hamirpur offers a world-class education and state-of-the-art facilities, providing an excellent environment for academic growth.

  • Tentative Eligibility Criteria (B.Tech.)(Subject to Change):
    • The candidate must have passed XII class (or equivalent) examination with five subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects) with a minimum of 8 CGPI on a 10-point scale or 75% marks. Candidates who have appeared in the Class XII examination in the current year or the previous two years, and completed Class X no earlier than four years prior to the current year, will be eligible for admission through SII in the UG programs, provided they fulfill all other mentioned eligibility requirements.
    • Annual fee for SAARC students: $4000 and Non-SAARC students: $8000 + institutional fee.
    • Only foreign nationals are eligible to apply under the SII programme. A "foreign national" is defined as an individual who is a citizen of any country other than India and holds a passport issued by that country. For admission to undergraduate programmes, the candidate must have completed both Class 11 and Class 12 (or equivalent) education outside India.
    • Last date for accepting applications for the first round of admissions under SII will be 31st May every year. All applications received after the deadline shall be considered for the next round, if any.
    • The department may set additional eligibility criteria depending on the number of received applications, based on various criteria like JEE (Main), English Proficiency test scores conducted by TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo exam, marks in the qualifying examination, SAT score, etc.
    • Students admitted under this scheme shall not be entitled to any fellowship, scholarship, or financial aid and 0% waiver in Tuition Fees (G4 Scheme) from NIT Hamirpur.
  • Tentative Eligibility Criteria (M.Tech.) (Subject to Change):
    • For admission to the M.Tech. program, the applicant must have passed a minimum of four years of B.Tech./B.E./B.S. in a relevant discipline with a CGPI of 6.5 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks.
    • Annual fee for SAARC students: $4000 and Non-SAARC students: $8000 + institutional fee.
    • Only foreign nationals are eligible to apply under the SII programme. A "foreign national" is defined as an individual who is a citizen of any country other than India and holds a passport issued by that country.
