The Government of India has launched a program called "Skill India" to create opportunities and scope of development for the Indian youth, especially of rural areas, to meet the challenge of skilling with speed and standard. In compliance with the decision of the Government of India, NIT Hamirpur has taken up the mission of enhancing employability through skill development training conducted by various departments with special focus by the Electrical, Mechanical and Management wings of NIT Hamirpur.

Objectives of the Scheme

• Only 5% of the existing workforce is trained and more than 80% are without any formal training.
• Enhancement in training facilities.
• Identification of skill gaps and improvement in employability.
• Alignment of skill set with market requirements.
• Developing training packages reflecting industry needs.
• Skills development tools, including e-learning.
