Dean (Academic) - Duties, Responsibilities and Academic Administration at NIT Hamirpur
ACTIVITIES
As per the schedule "C" of NIT statutes the duties and responsibilities of the Dean (Academic) is to advice the Director in:
📋 Dean (Academic) Responsibilities
1
Admission and Enrollment
Admission and enrollment of students including all admission procedures and student registration processes.

Academic Calendar & Timetables
Finalisation of academic calendar, time-tables, registration of students for course work and examinations, class arrangements and all other requirements for proper conduct of class work.

Class Tests & Evaluations
Conduct of class tests and co-coordinating the finalization of session's evaluations and for ensuring the timely declaration of results.

Academic Records Maintenance
Supervision of the maintenance of up-to-date academic records of all categories of students.

Syllabi Publication
Publication and distribution of the syllabi for all academic programs and courses.

Academic Bodies Meetings
Organizing meeting of all the Institute level academic bodies and coordination of academic activities.

Academic Certificates & Awards
Arranging the issue of all academic certificates, medals and prizes to the students.

Examination Conduct
To arrange or conduct of those examinations which are to be conducted by the Institute as stipulated in the Institute regulations.

Research Policy Formulation
To formulate policies for the conduct of research and steps to maintain suitable standard by implementing the Board of Governors/Senate decision.

P.G. & Ph.D. Programs
To execute the policy of the Senate in the conduct of P.G., Ph.D. and other research programmes including the examination of the thesis.

Convocation Coordination
To co-ordinates for the conduct of Convocation ceremonies and related academic activities.

Teaching Program Modifications
All proposals to modify the teaching programmes will be considered by BOAC, for which Dean (Academic) i.e. the Chairman and if approved will be sent to the Senate for formal approval.

Faculty Development Programs
To admit sponsored Early Faculty Induction Programme and Quality Improvement Programme candidates.

Academic Standards Enhancement
To suggest the Director to take suitable steps from time to time to strive for the high academic standards.

🏛️ Academic Governance
Board of Academic Courses (BOAC)
The Dean (Academic) serves as the Chairman of BOAC and oversees all proposals for teaching program modifications. Approved proposals are forwarded to the Senate for formal approval.
Senate Coordination
Execution of Senate policies in conducting P.G., Ph.D., and other research programs, including thesis examinations and academic standard maintenance.
Institute Academic Bodies
Organization and coordination of meetings for all Institute-level academic bodies to ensure smooth academic operations and decision-making.
